National Touch League
COFFS HARBOUR MAYOR TO VISIT |
| Saturday, 13th March 2004 Coffs Harbour Mayor Jenny Bonfield will visit the Coffs Harbour International Sports Stadium tonight at 6:30pm, to speak at 6:45pm. She will visit the stadium tonight to speak to Australian Touch Association (ATA) Officials and Permit Officials, welcoming the Australian Touch Association National Touch League (NTL) tournament to Coffs Harbour. The NTL tournament has been running in Coffs Harbour since it was established in 1997. Rights to host the tournament are currently up for tender, with Coffs Harbour again applying to host Australia's premier touch football event. Others to apply for the right to host include Devonport in Tasmania, the ACT, the Gold Coast and Kawana on the Sunshine Coast. With the tournament bringing around 2500 players and officials, as well as many more spectators, the event is a major drawcard for the Coffs Harbour community. Coffs Harbour has provided ATA with a continual growth of numbers since 1997 and the stability to hold National Championships in an environment where selectors can view the players for World Cup and other international events. These factors combined have helped Australia maintain Australia's dominance worldwide in this sport.
