ODDS AND ENDS
With the NTL up and running we though we would put together a few statistics you needed to know and a few you didn't! With the boys from the fishbowl keeping watch over the action and our roving reporters on the loose, nothing goes un-noticed!
Every year the standard of Touch on display at the National Touch League just seems to get better.
It’s only the end of day two, and already so far this tournament we’ve seen some thrilling games, some upsets and some truly courageous battles.
Here are some best bits from the 2006 NTL so far:
- We’ve seen some brilliant touchdowns scored so far, and with finals around the corner and the cameras rolling during the finals on Monday, we’re sure to see many more. The top touchdown scorers at this stage are-
Mens Open | Matt Prowse (Mets) | 13 |
Womens Open | Angela Doyle (Rustlers) | 5 |
Gemma Etheridge (Rustlers) | 5
Mixed Open | Michael Janco (Mets) | 7 |
Bianca Keehn (Scorpions) | 7
Mens 20's | Ashley Shepherd (Sharks) | 8 |
Womens 20's | Jessica Absolum (Suns) | 11 |
- The Best Touchdown we’ve seen so far occurred in Round 4 of the Mens Open division today where Scorpions scored a length of the field touchdown against Rustlers.
- Scorpions versus Rustlers at 12.20pm today, has also been decided as the Best Game of the tournament so far with Scorpions eventual winners, 8-5.
- We’ve spotted a Hot Stepper…Gian Guerra from Cyclones Mens 20’s left scorch marks all over field one this afternoon.
- Kane and Adam from The Fishbowl, have voted that Sydney Mets has the nicest uniform this year.
- There are some new additions to the TFA Tournament staff this year. Welcome to Abby, Kasey, Ryan and Ebony and thank you for your help throughout what we hope will be an enjoyable tournament for you.
- Can you guess which TFA tournament staff member sleeps with her ‘Lamby’ and sucks her thumb at night?
- A tower has been put up in front of Field one, ready to start filming the Mens, Womens and Mixed Open finals on Monday to appear on Fox Sports in the coming weeks.
- The many spectators that come to Coffs to watch some Touch will easily be able to find out the scores on the main fields, with a new scoreboard set up for the finals.
