| DAY 4 - FINALS GRAND FINAL The Sydney Mets are the Men's 30's 2003 NTL champions after 5-4 win over fellow Sydney team the Scorpions. In an exciting game both teams put on a display of top quality Touch. With the lead changing several times the game was there for both sides to win right down to the final siren. After the game a clearly disappointed Scorpions team sat on the field for nearly an hour before going to the referees tent to thank all of the referees for their effort through the tournament. Mets (5) def Scorpions (4) Semi-Finals The form teams continued to dominate with the Scorpions and the Mets continuing on their winning way both progressing to the final with close wins. The Scorpions made their way through to the decider with a 5-3 victory over the Sharks. The Mets also making their way to the big game with a two touchdown victory over the Hunter Hornets. SF1 Mets (6) def Hornets (4) SF2 Scorpions (5) def Sharks (3) Quarters Going into the quarterfinals the form teams looked to be the Mets, Scorpions, and Sharks. Those teams proved to be the strongest with the Mets and the Scorpions both recording big wins in their quarterfinal matches. The other two teams to progress to the semi finals did so in much closer matches. The Sharks went through with a 6-4 win over the Razorbacks while the Hornets snuck through with a 6-5 win, thanks to a drop off, over the unlucky Crusaders. QF1 Sharks (6) def Razorbacks (4) QF2 Mets (8) def Defence (1) QF3 Hornets (6) def Crusaders (5) QF4 Scorpions (10) def Cobras (1) DAY 3 By the end of the round games the Scorpions and the Mets have finished on top of group B having been untroubled by any of the other teams. The undefeated Mets gave the second placed Scorpions their only defeat of the round games. In pool B the sharks finished on top thanks to a 12-2 thrashing of the second placed Crusaders. Going into the quarterfinals the competition looks to be very open. Day 2 After four rounds of play the contenders in both groups are starting to show through. In group A the battle for top spot has been reduced to just two teams with the Sharks and the Crusaders still undefeated with only each other left to play. In pool B the mets are the only undefeated team with the Scorpions only two points behind. DAY 1 Plenty of teams remain undefeated after the first day of competition in the men's 30's at the 2003 NTL. The Crusaders have made a good start to the competition with two good wins from two games to lead pool A while the sharks and the Cobras are both still undefeated with one win and a bye each. Leading Pool B are Sydney sides the Scorpions and the Mets who are both headed into day two with with a perfect record after the first two rounds. | |
