"SIXTY SECONDS IN TOUCH"
We're back for the latest addition of 60 seconds in Touch and the A in April must stand for action-packed because once again that's what we are, it's school holidays (the count is on till school is back) and ANZAC celebrations will kick into gear this week as we remember those who have fought and lost their lives for our Nation...

* Dave McMurray (ATA's finance guru) has been a busy man with all of the All Nations deposits coming in and we just want to wish him a happy birthday for this Saturday the 23rd. So as a little present for Dave, please fax in your remittance slips when you make a direct deposit. It makes his job a little less stressful.

* An interesting question...Kristy (the friendly voice you hear when you call the office) and I (Rachel Moyle) were driving home the other night and passed a group of kangaroos on the side of the road. (Yes, in Canberra.) We're just wondering what do you call them, do you call them a herd? A flock? A pod? Or simply a group?

* And another interesting question that was passed around the ATA office this week...Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

* Back to Touch though, the first newsletter was released last week, and the second is already in production already promising about 7 pages worth of great Touch stories. It is released in the first week of each month and the May edition is not too far away. Have a read of the April edition (on the front page) and if you want the newsletter to be sent directly to then simply send me an email at media@austouch.com.au and I'll put you on the mailing list for May.

* The Open National Training Squads have been announced, with the squads set to be narrowed from 18 players each to 14 players in the next few weeks, keep an eye on the website for the news! These sides will head to New Zealand with the Senior sides for the All Nations tournament and then be aiming for the 2006 Trans Tasman series and 2007 World Cup in South Africa.

* On the topic of the National Training Squads, newspaper stories are already surfacing, the Sunshine Coast players the first, with the following article appearing in the Sunshine Coast Daily. FARROWS, ROGERSONS AND CLARK- SUNSHINE COAST DAILY

Rachael Holden and Andrew Baggio weren't far behind in the Wagga Wagga Daily Advertiser, we'll keep you updated on more as they are printed.

With the All Nations senior sides being announced on April 29, we'll be working hard to get as much media coverage for all of these players as possible. If you're am Aussie senior player, feel free to contact Rachel Moyle, media@austouch.com.au with your details such as a brief playing history, thoughts on selection, contact details and who your local newspaper is. Rachel will be able to try and get you some media coverage in your local press but she definitely needs you to provide her with the info above. It's a great opportunity to get some more publicity for the sport and for our players.

* Thank you to all who attended NSW Touch's regional forum over the weekend. Rachel had the chance to host the session on Media and it was great to be able to share ideas and chat with people from all around NSW, it's clear that people are wanting to work in this area and help Touch grow in this way. From what I saw over the weekend, there are certainly a lot of passionate people within the sport. Remember if you need a hand with writing a media release or with approaching your local media, contact media@austouch.com.au

* The unseasonably warm weather in Canberra (mid 20's in April, it's amazing!) will welcome the kick off of their winter competition soon. Good luck to all ACT players over winter, you're certainly braver than me. If you're keen to join the competition, contact ACT because there's always sides looking for extra players and team nominations are of course still open.

* http://www.touch-sa.asn.au/ is Touch SA's new website and they're building up all of the links and info quickly. Make sure you check it out for another example of how a website can help build you local association, region or state.

`Local Association of the Week': Rockhampton Touch... ROCKHAMPTON TOUCH ASSOCIATION Another great local website and how can you go past the photo gallery, my favourite being the `Mums on a Mission' C grade Womens premiers in lime green shirts. Another great example of how a local association can use their SportingPulse website to share news and information, results and draws and a whole lot more with their local players.

* Victoria Touch are holding their Womens Open trials on Saturday April 30 and May 7, make sure you contact them for all the info www.victouch.com.au

* The next Touch column for www.sportsnews.com.au is due up this week, so make sure you check back regularly, it's sure to be a good read.

Poll
The ATA is wanting your opinion on the NTL logo.

Do you think that the logo is:
A: Terrible, the style has nothing to do with Touch and it needs a colour change

B: Satisfactory, not brilliant/not terrible, but what else could be done?

or

C: Great, encompasses Touch Australia-wide and the colours are the Aussie green and gold
