"SIXTY SECONDS IN TOUCH"
After the ANZAC Day long weekend we're back at work for another edition of 60 seconds in Touch, packed full of useful information such as facts about Kangaroos...

* Last week I asked the question, what are a group of Kangaroos called? Little did I know that the Touch crowd were so willing to help me out...I thank the dozen or so people that sent me emails and various web links telling me they are indeed called a `mob'. Although apparently they can also be called a `herd' or a `troop'.

One very knowledgeable Touchie also informed me that just for future reference, a group of jellyfish is called a `smack'. Always good to know. Check out these links for some useful trivia/quiz night answers.

* Despite the question of kangaroos being so popular, no one seemed keen to answer why toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

* The Australian Senior sides are being announced THIS WEEK. Make sure you check out the website on Friday April 29 for the full team lists (I'm not telling you exactly what time they'll be up, you'll have to keep checking!)

* If you think you have what it takes to be a Manager for one of the Australian Senior sides then check out the ATA website, applications for Managers have been extended until April 29. Contact technical@austouch.com.au if you need any more info.

* Rachel has written her latest column on www.sportsnews.com.au attempting to tackle the issue of professionalism in our sport, wages for players, what it means to represent Australia and where Touch fits in. Make sure you check it out, it's a great ay for Touch to be getting out into the sports news world and an opportunity for us to prove how widespread and popular Touch really is. Use the link above and then click on 'Features' on the Sports News homepage.

* Triton Touch are trying their best to convince Melbourne Touchies that just because it's cold and wet it doesn't mean you have to stop Touch. The 'In-Touch' program has been introduced by Verb Sports Inc, a not-for profit organisation, just started up in Melbourne and driven by a group of Touch-mad sports lovers. They're introducing `In Touch' over winter, played with 3 on 2 on an indoor volleyball court and with $270 prize money. See http://cgi.tripod.com/tritontouch/cgi-bin/index.pl?page=news&id;=773 for all the info.

* Also in Victoria, their Secondary School Touch Titles are receiving a bucket load of entries, with Vic Touch keen for assistance from local referees. Please check out www.victouch.com.au for all the info on the tournament or if you're a referee that's keen to lend a hand.

* The Michael Jonson Roast was held on Sunday afternoon at Darling Harbour. It was a day held to celebrate the contribution Michael has made to Touch and to life, with over 300 relatives, friends and Touchies from all walks of life attending. The thoughts of the Touch community are with Michael and his extended family as he battles cancer.

* Have you updated your coaching accreditation lately? If you haven't done it and your course was over four years ago, make sure you see the story on the ATA homepage called `How to update your coaching accreditation', because your accreditation has probably expired...not good news for a coach wanting to apply for coaching positions! All the info and forms you need can be found at this story, feel free to contact Chris Tarlinton at technical@austouch.com.au if you have any questions.

* The May edition of the ATA newsletter `Touch-e-Talk' will be issued next week (the first week of May), so keep an eye on the ATA website. If you want to be included on the mailing list for this, just send an email to media@austouch.com.au

* The National Training Squad profiles are currently being updated, make sure you check them out by holding your mouse on `Team Profiles' on the left hand side of the ATA homepage and then rolling down to the links to Mens, Womens and Mixed profiles. There's certainly the odd bit of interesting info there, whether it be who they want to get stuck in an elevator with, their like, pet hates and favourite articles of clothing. You know you want to know who lists their likes as: `rad beards, pirates, pirate talk, speed dancing and spiderman'. I'll give you a hint, they're in the Mixed squad.

* A level 1 referee coach and level 1 referee presenters course is being held on Friday 24th (evening) till Sunday 26th in the ACT. Anyone interested should contact Mike Rush on michael.rush@dotars.gov.au or Ian Matthew at BREEZMAT@bigpond.com.au. It's a great chance to further develop your own skills and the level of Touch refereeing in the ACT.

* The Northern Territory Championships are being held this weekend, with finals on Sunday. The divisions are Women's Open, Mens Open and Under 18 Mixed. Teams will be traveling from Alice Springs, Gove/Groote Eylandt, Katherine, Tiwi Islands and Darwin Club teams.

* The final result of the poll was the Brisbane City Cobras Womens 20's narrowly pipping the Crusaders Womens 30's for the most memorable performance at the 2005 NTL. The Cobras girls went from last in 2004 to runner up in the Womens 20's in 2005. The new poll will be loaded on today!

* Remember, any requests for help with media, writing media releases etc, especially with the upcoming announcement of the All Nations Senior sides, can be sent to Rachel Moyle, media@austouch.com.au

Poll
The ATA is wanting your opinion on the NTL logo.

Do you think that the logo is:
A: Terrible, the style has nothing to do with Touch and it needs a colour change

B: Satisfactory, not brilliant/not terrible, but what else could be done?

or

C: Great, encompasses Touch Australia-wide and the colours are the Aussie green and gold
