ASC logo
The Exercise, Recreation and Sport Survey (ERASS) is a joint initiative of the Australian Sports Commission and State and Territory Departments of Sport and Recreation.

The ERASS collects information about people aged 15 years and over regarding the exercise, recreation and sporting activities they undertook during the previous twelve months.

The survey was first conducted in 2001 and this link contains the publication of results from the third ERASS survey, which was conducted in 2003.

This publication presents information regarding the level and frequency of participation in organised physical activity, the type of participation in physical activity and trends in participation over time.

Information is available for both organised and non-organised sport, for all States and Territories and for a variety of demographic variables.

The survey will be conducted again in 2004, 2005 and 2006 furthering the time series and ensuring the ongoing monitoring of participation trends.
