| The 2004 School Sport Touch Championships are providing plenty of action for Touch lovers. Here's just a taste of the ever quotable quotes from those on the Gold Coast... FROM THE COACHES BOX: These are an assortment of Comment's and Quotes on the Day's Competition as told to the Media room by those keen to share their team's experiences at the tournament.... A few comments also creep in from officials and spectators... "Do you reckon it's hotter than this in the desert?" a Tasmanian 12 Years player on the state of the Gold Coast weather. "Don't kick the Touch ball!" Tournament organiser Peter Bell over the PA system to Kristy Brennan who just scored a touchdown and was looking pleased with herself and kicked the ball back to half way....good spoil Pete. "An Experience," - the only thing the Tasmanian 12 Years Boys Coach wrote on his team's 0 -28 and 0-20 start to the tournament...we'll back you in to add `Touchdown' to the `experience' word tomorrow! "Kristy Brennan is going well, although we call her K-Mart because she keeps breaking and we have to keep taking her back for repairs or replacing her," - Qld 15 Years Girls Coach Craig Slavin. "Goal tomorrow - Beat NSW," - Slavin again. "Huge improvement throughout the day, Zara Stokes scored our lone touchdown for the day in her second tournament as the team's youngest player," Tasmanian 12 Years Girls Coach - You go Zara! "Improved as the day went on, offence better, plays better, some disappointing losses, but positive signs as we went on," Phil Jones SA 15 Years Boys Manager. "Kimberly `the bully' scoring 3 touchdowns and one knockdown," - Chris Jones SA 15 Years Girls Manager - Note to self, don't mess with Kimberly! "We scored against Qld!" - Tasmanian 15 Years Girls Manager on the highlight of their 22 -1 loss to Qld. "The team is playing as a team and going well, though Cobie Morgan and Tiana Wynyard owe the team `a carton' (of soft drink) for dropping the ball over the line," -NSW 15 Years Girls Coach Dave Stewart on his team's progress in day one, don't drop the ball when this guy's around! "Means nothin' if we lose Saturday," - Qld 15 Years Boys Coach Dan `the man' Parker reflecting on his team's victory over arch rivals NSW today. "Plenty of time between now and the final, we can do much better, just got to get our game together, we'll build into it," NSW 15 Years Boys Coach Mark Hilderbrandt on his team's loss to Qld today. "Beat the Blues." - Tomorrow's goal for the Qld 12 Years Girls, common theme emerging here! . "Started well, attack good, scoring out wide after good sweeping raids. Defence improving - need to pack quicker - big game v NSW tomorrow," Peter Sergeant Qld 12 Years Boys Manager reflecting on the day's efforts by his team. "We need to fine tune positions and combinations - a good effort today," - NSW 12 Years Girls Manager. "Team's gelling well. Ball control and taking the right options tomorrow is important. Tournament is organised great, referees doing really well," NSW 12 Years Boys Coaching staff - You guys are nice, you can stay. "I'm too old for this," - Referees Director Ray `Griesy' Grieshaber on pulling on the white shirt and refereeing in this tournament - still sounding good Griesy. "Players of the day included Steve Tekanawa and Chris Katal," Victorian 15 Years Boys Coaching staff. "Great improvements from last year in the girls showing better defence," South Australian 12 Years Girls Coaching staff.
