| PERFECT GAME SEALS SERIES WIN FOR AUSTRALIAN WOMEN | |
| New Zealand must be wondering if they will ever win the Trans Tasman Series after last night's 9-1 thrashing at the hands of the Australians. The Australian women played what will probably be remembered as one of the greatest performances of all time last night as they put on a nearly faultless display for the fans at Coffs Harbour International Stadium. After winning game one 6-0 the Australians lifted their game for the 2nd game pouring on the touchdowns seemingly at will. Amanda Judd had a fantastic game for the home team scoring four touchdowns to add to her one from the first game. New Zealand never looked in with a chance as the Australians dominated from the outset of the game going into the half time break with a commanding 4-0 lead. No pity was shown to the struggling New Zealanders in the second period with the Australians pouring on five more touchdowns in the second half. The only highlight in the game for the Kiwis was a magnificent second half touchdown to Selena Te Amo. Australian coach Peter Bell was overwhelmed by the impressive display his team put on. That is probably the best performance from an Australian women's team since I became coach in 1994.' Said Bell. It was pretty much awesome. Anyone who was here tonight would be flabbergasted by the speed, the skills, the fitness, and everything. 'Everything the game is about, the girls displayed here tonight. I don't know if we could ever play that well again. 'The Kiwis will probably go home and think they have got a lot of work to do for the world cup. I am just chuffed by the performance of the girls tonight. They were just unbelievable.' Australia 9 (Shelley Matcham, Karina Castle, Sharyn Madders, Melissa Galea 2, Amanda Judd 4) Defeated New Zealand 1 (Selena Te Amo) |
