SIXTY SECONDS IN TOUCH
Welcome to the post Special General Meeting and Constitutional vote edition of Sixty Seconds in Touch...if you haven't been paying attention to the website or Touch news for the past few weeks, you may not be aware that there have been massive developments in the Management and Governance of our sport, culminating last weekend with a voting to change the constitution...

* It was a massive weekend for Touch around Australia, as delegates from each state and territory gathered in Canberra to vote on a new constitution that would fundamentally change the way the sport is managed and delivered across the country.

The vote in favour of the new constitution was unanimous, with all state delegates raising their hands to bring a new direction for Touch and a revolution in management for the sport itself. The full story can be found on the ATA homepage.

* Along with the weekend's meeting went the final farewell function for retiring CEO Bill Ker and his wife Gwynne, who are leaving the ATA office. Interest in the function was overwhelming, with the event being held on the MV Southern Cross on Lake Burley Griffin. Despite the sub zero temperature, on the boat on the lake was certainly the place to be, as close to 90 representatives of the Ker's friends, family and work mates gathered together to celebrate their time and than them for all of their hard work and dedication.

* Make sure you jump online next Wednesday July 7 when the next edition of Touch-e-Talk is released. It will be the fourth edition in a venture proving to be an extremely valuable tool in communicating with the Touch world. This month's edition has some more feature articles on some of our Senior All Nations representatives, as well as a photo gallery farewell of the Ker's time with ATA, an article on last weekend's SGM, the latest `Volunteer of the Month' and more.

* The Volunteer of the Month segment in `Touch-e-Talk' is proving a hit, with several State and Regional associations nominating locals who contribute to their Touch competitions in many different ways. This month we've selected two winners in an effort to try and recognise as many people as possible. For more info on how to nominate someone, check out the next edition of the newsletter. Don't forget its uploaded next week. If you'd like to join the mailing list for the newsletter, simply email media@austouch.com.au

* The National 18 Years Championships is rapidly approaching, the ATA is looking at running a media launch, similar to the AusTouch launch held at the 2004 18 Years Championships, it will be held in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony on day one of the event. If you're in Coffs Harbour for the tournament, make sure you come down for the launch; it's a great chance to wish our All Nations representatives all the best as they head for New Zealand in October.

* News from the Southern Suns- South Coast Schoolgirls win NSWCHS Touch title: South Coast defeated Sydney West 5-1 in the final to win the NSW Combined High Schools Open Girls Touch Championships at Coffs Harbour last week.

Coached by Tracey Bills from Yass the South Coast the team went through the competition undefeated winning eleven games including nine round games and a semi-final.

* The NSWTA Vawdon Cup is not to far from kicking off, with the provisional gradings released last week. It's certainly going to be competition that we'll be keeping an eye on and will be giving regular reports on within 60 Seconds in Touch.

* The Queensland 2005 Junior State Cup is rapidly approaching with the draft draw available on the ATA website. With over 120 teams, Queensland Touch are ecstatic as entries have increased by around 30 teams for the 2005 event. Keep watching www.qldtouch.com.au and the ATA website for more information.

* After struggling along in drought conditions and on level 2 and level 3 water restrictions for several months, the Winter season is already causing headaches for ACT Touch, with coaches and officials trying to select their Under 13, Under 15 and Under 18 sides for National Championships. However, regular rain over the past two weeks has brought about the cancellation of several training runs.

* Remember all requests for media help can be sent to Rachel Moyle at media@austouch.com.au

* One more thing...for all regular Sixty Seconds in Touch readers, Rachel is taking a week's leave from Wednesday this week and will be back in the office on Thursday July 7. The next edition of Sixty Seconds in Touch will be on July 7, with the Touch-e-Talk newsletter also being released on the same day.
