Australia v Western Australia Touch Series - Game 2

The second day of the Touch series between Australia and Western Australia saw a vast change from the previous day's windy, rainy and slippery conditions. A terrific Western Australia afternoon provided the opportunity for the teams to show their skill.

Girls

The Australian girls hit the ground running scoring in the first set of 6 touches of the match. That appeared to put the Western Australians on the back foot and the Australian girls showed their true skill running out comfortable winners 8 - 1. Kirstie Jenkins was a stand out, scoring 4 touch downs in the match.

Coach Gary Madders was happy with the improvement from the previous day, setting the girls with the task of demonstrating that they were capable of quality touch. This showed through with few errors and was confirmed in the expansive running game set and implemented.

In the final stages Australia was too strong for their Western Australian opponents.

Touch down scorers:
Kirstie Jenkins 4, Melissa McCall 1, Hayley Rogerson 1, Katie Shaw 1, Jarah Jennings 1.

Boys

The West Australian mens team had obviously learned from the previous night, implementing a plan to exploit the middle of the field. With a number of ex-New Zealand players guiding the team, the strategy payed off, with them scoring 6 touch downs.

The Australians were down at half time, with the score 1 - 2. Again they regrouped and were able to regain composure producing some excellent patches of touch to score 7 times in the second half.

Both teams moved the ball from one end to the other, however the Australians were able to convert their chances more often than the West.

The final score favoured the Australians 8 - 6.

Touch down scorers:
Hayden Anderson 2, Adrian O'Shanesy 1, Matt Baker 1, Josh Essex 1, Mark Kovacic 1, Daniel Brown 1, Troy Malcolm 1.

Do you think that the logo is:
A: Terrible, the style has nothing to do with Touch and it needs a colour change

B: Satisfactory, not brilliant/not terrible, but what else could be done?

or

C: Great, encompasses Touch Australia-wide and the colours are the Aussie green and gold
